The Meaning
Tugtupite is thought to come from the word 'tuttupit', which means ‘reindeer blood’ in Greenlandic Inuit. There is an Inuit legend about a female reindeer drover who went to the mountains to give birth. Where her birthing blood fell to the ground, tugtupite formed. Another Inuit legend states that the passion of lovers can make the stone glow.
